UIDAI provides a free Extension to update your Aadhaar card

The due date for free digital Aadhaar card updates has been prolonged till September 14, 2023. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) declared this in June. Previously, the UIDAI permitted citizens to modify their Aadhaar card information online for free. According to the Economic Times, this project constitutes a component of the Digital India push.

UIDAI Statement on Date Extension:

In order to motivate more people to update their Aadhaar documents, it was determined to offer an opportunity to amend their Aadhaar documents through myAadhaar website without expense up to September 14, 2023.” Based on the favorable reaction from the inhabitants, the facility will be extended for a period of three months, from September 14, 2023 to December 14, 2023. As a result, the option for document modification through the myAadhaar portal will remain free of charge till December 14, 2023.

UIDAI urges Aadhaar users aged 10 and up to check and amend their data. Accurate demographic information is required, which necessitates the provision of name and proof of residence certificates. Aside from name and address shifts, UIDAI has encouraged individuals to report any additional modifications, such as funeral or marital status modifications.

Kindly follow the steps given below to update your Aadhaar card for free:

  • uidai.gov.in is the primary UIDAI portal. Log in and choose Name/Gender/Birthdate/Address Update.
  • Choose the Update Aadhaar Online button.
  • Select the Address option and then  initiate to Update Aadhaar card
  • Submit scanned papers and fill out the necessary demographic information.
  • Make a Rs 25 deposit (not required until December 14).
  • A Service Request Number (SRN) will be assigned for tracking purposes.
  • After the in-depth quality review is completed, you will get an SMS.

By selecting the exact data you desire to alter or update, you can use this method to modify multiple fields on your UID card. Also, the no-cost Aadhaar data updating process continues until December 14. You can also get these revisions by paying a small cost of Rs. 25 at a Common Services Centre (CSC). After the in-house quality check is completed, you will get an SMS.

Need to upgrade Aadhaar card:

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is requesting that people upgrade their Aadhaar cards, particularly if they were given out more than ten years ago and have not been upgraded since. This is done to guarantee that the demographic information on the Aadhaar card is correct and up to date. Accurate demographic information enhances the delivery of services and increases identification success rates.

Importance of Linking of Aadhaar card with PPF, SSY and NSC:

It’s important to remember that if you’ve participated in minor savings programs like Public Provident Fund (PPF), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), or National Savings Certificate or any other Government scheme, you must amend your Aadhaar number with India Post for ‘know your customer’ (KYC) regulations by last day of this month i.e. September 30, 2023. If you do not comply, your account may be terminated from October 1, 2023. New customers have six months from the day of opening an account to connect their Aadhaar.
